Partner school for Poster for tomorrow

Skull - Bladimir Trejo

poster for tomorrow is committed to campaigning against the death penalty: Death is not justice.

The aim of this project is to encourage people from around the world, whether they have a background in graphic design or not, to come up with posters to stimulate debate on issues that affect us all.

The new theme of poster for tomorrow for this year, namely 'Death is not justice', was launched at the 4th World Congress Against the Death Penalty.

October 10, 2010 has been designated as World and European Day Against the Death Penalty. Hervé Matine, the founder of poster for tomorrow, and the rest of his team, intend to hold 100 exhibitions in 100 different cities organized by 100 partner organizations.

Bianca Jagger, well-known for her role as a defender of human rights, is lending her support to poster for tomorrow to help draw as much attention as possible to the project.

The project also has the backing of Amnesty international:
“Amnesty International considers that graphic art is an effective means of conveying the true horror of executions and the death penalty with the proper degree of emotion and fairness. This competition is an excellent opportunity for as many people as possible to illustrate the unacceptable nature of State-sponsored assassination. Amnesty International is happy to be associated with this initiative.”

Key dates:
Call for entries
Opening date for entries: April 10, 2010 Closing date: July 18, 2010.

Festival 1er regard

The new poster and visual identity for the Festival 1er regard have been created by two students from école intuit lab, Ophélie Crapanzano and David Redon.

For the 8th edition of the festival (2010), école intuit.lab, in conjunction with the Festival management, proposed its third-year students to work both on the development of a new visual identity and a poster for the Festival, in the form of a prize competition.
A jury consisting of members of the organizing team and teachers from école intuit.lab selected seven pieces of work, three of which were awarded prizes.

The first prize was also the project that was put into production.

About the Festival 1er regard

1er Regard is an international festival, organized in Boulogne-Billancourt (in the Hauts-de-Seine just outside Paris) and devoted to short films made by students of audio-visual studies. A wide variety of genres are represented at the festival, including animations, documentary and fictional films, etc.

The idea?
Up-and-coming artists have a chance to show their (first) short film. Twenty or so films are selected to take part in the Festival. It also provides a forum for artistic exchange where students can present their work to a jury of professionals and a knowledgable audience.

The strength and originality of the Festival lie in its ability to offer students a special framework for expression which can serve as a genuine stepping stone to the future.

Nine prizes are awarded: A prize for secondary school students, a prize for audio-visual BTS students, prizes for the best image, sound and editing, as well as a director's prize, a jury prize, an audience prize and an animation prize.

The Festival will be held from January 25 to 29, 2010.

Events at école intuit.lab

On Wednesday February 17, 2010, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Ravi Deshpande.
As a result, our students had the opportunity to attend a conference he gave on inspiration in advertising:
Be inspired.
Ravi Deshpande is the Creative Director of Contract Advertising (Mumbaï), an agency which is a major player in advertising and design not only in India but also abroad.

Ecole intuit.lab had the pleasure of welcoming Jean-Marie Dru on Thursday May 28, 2009.
Our students were extremely grateful to have the opportunity to attend his conference on Brands.
For the last three years, Jean-Marie Dru has been head of the powerful worldwide advertising network TBWA, a unit of advertising giant Omnicom. He is the originator of the concept of DISRUPTION, which is at the root of the thinking behind some of the most remarkable advertising campaigns of the last thirty years.

École intuit.lab supports the Poster 4 Tomorrow contest

Organized by the cultural association GoodDesign and HM Studio in conjunction with 4tomorrow, "Poster4Tomorrow" is a poster contest to promote action against the repression of freedom of expression.

Freedom of expression is a right we often take for granted in the West, but is one which is often unceremoniously overlooked or disregarded in many other countries, such as Iran. By focussing on the theme
"When the people speak, governments have to listen", the organizers hope to bring people together to fight against injustice
and intolerance, and in favour of the freedom of the press.

In conjunction with the non-profit organization Reporters sans Frontières, the prize-winning posters will be selected by a jury consisting of Marjane Satrapi (creator and director of the film Persepolis), the Iranian graphic designers Reza Abedini and Saed Meshki, as well as the graphic designers Alain Lequernec, Pierre Bernard, Malte Martin and Woody Pirtle, as well as Tommaso Minnetti and Pasquale Volpe (founders of the social communications project Good50x70).
The 100 best pieces of work will be featured in a book and put on display in an exhibition to be held in Paris.

Selected participants in the contest will receive prizes including participation in workshops run by the école Intuit.Lab in 2010.

Article in French magazine Télérama: "Ecole Intuit.lab in Paris and Aix"

"A name to look out for"

"For the head of Ecole Intuit.lab, Patrick Felices, the job of a school is to stay one step ahead of the changes and innovations in its sector. At the same time, while the teaching process is of course based on fundamentals, it is constantly evolving as new needs arise. "Our aim is to train true professionals, ready to go out, find a job and earn a decent living." Patrick Felices also talks of the importance of allowing students to develop their full potential, of self-sufficiency, a feeling of working as a team and a methodical approach... He places special emphasis on the need for students to learn how to reconcile creative, technical and project management considerations, without losing sight of relations with the customer. "It's a big ask, but you have to know how to find the right balance between valuing a creative approach, being ready to take risks, and teaching students to work within budgetary and time constraints."

Article by Fabienne Pascaud and Virginie de La Batut originally published under the title: "L'Ecole Intuit.lab à Paris et Aix - Le nom qui monte" in French magazine Télérama (Issue 3081), January 31 – February 6, 2009, special supplement on education in the Arts (Applied Arts).

Ecole Intuit.lab ranked 2nd by L'Etudiant

Gilles Deléris, writing in the French magazine L'Etudiant has ranked Ecole Intuit.lab as his second-favourite course of training in the Arts.

The March issue of L'Etudiant (Issue 317) contains a special feature on schools offering courses in the Applied Arts and gives the views of professionals.

In the Graphic Arts, our school received a special mention: "Two private schools, Penninghen and Intuit.lab, are hot on the heels of the bastions of the public sector, the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Déco [ENSAD] and the Ecole Estienne."

Gilles Deléris, founder of the agency W & Cie, ranks Ecole Intuit.lab as his second-favourite course in the Graphic Arts. "For me, Intuit.lab strikes the right balance between research and the reality of the professional world. The approach to creative thinking, the quality of argumentational skills, as well as those necessary for the execution and presentation of projects, have all made a good impression on me. In fact, we have just taken on three students from the school as part of their dual-education programme."
