Preparatory year, Year 1 - LAB 1

LEARN and DISCOVER
With 27 hours of weekly classes and the same number of hours work to be done in your own time at home, the year's teaching programme is intensive and densely packed. This first year, which is one of discovery and learning the basics, is an essential preparation before going onto a more advanced level of study.
With a focus on self-discovery and finding the right direction, the aim of the preparatory year is to provide the student with some basic structure and lay the foundations for what they are to acquire over the years to come.

Analytical drawing - Live model sketching - Outdoor sketching - Colour/Sketching - Creativity/Illustration - Communications/Image - Volume/Photography - Perspective - Human sciences - History of art - Conferences/Visits - English

Objectives
• To learn fundamental techniques (drawing, painting, working in volume, etc.).
• To develop a general and artistic cultural sensitivity
• To prepare an individual portfolio consisting of your best work from the year.
• To be able to present your work to a jury and justify your application depending on the schools that you are presenting work from.
• To learn about the arts and gain a grounding in the techniques of the visual arts.
• To develop a spirit of creativity and reveal your hidden talents.
• To decide on what you wish to pursue for your advanced training course.

Conditions for admission
Candidates must be at least 17 years old, with qualifications to French Niveau Term level or Baccaleureat toutes séries confondues [equivalent to A-level or other school-leaving diploma].
